As mentioned by Dave Sutton of Stadiums and Shrines, "Mourning Shore humbly extends a set of synth and guitar meditations made in the memory of a loved one. Songs perry grief and anxiety with warmth and beauty; for some, catharsis requires an unleashing of aggression or disruption as a way of coping, but as heard here, catharsis can envelop and in tranquil solitude, flowing, rather than erupting in and out like a noticed breath." Similarly, the songs in this compendium for 2019's Mourning Shore offer catharsis in tranquility and solitude, but with the aid of friends and artists to help channel these emotions in a new light, while revisiting works that almost were.

Featuring Teen Daze, WMD, Hotwax, and Snail with Legs reworkings- this compendium aims to show growth through grief and pain, in a more positive light. In other words, this collection of tracks is a revisiting to the time of recording Mourning Shore. It hosts tracks that are far more active than the quiet sounds of the former, with others own interpretations. It's a look into the future, while crediting the past for its experience and lessons.
